The 3 migraine myths that keep you from breaking free of it

    Portrait of Sara

If you're here, this might sound familiar.

You wake up and the first thing you do is listen to your head, scanning for symptoms. You look at the day ahead and work out what you can afford. You leave plans half-done, or cancel them before they arrive, just in case.

You've tried diets, supplements, medication, specialists. Nothing has quite worked.

And still, you keep looking. It's not a lack of willpower or consistency: almost nobody has explained how pain really works.

    I lived this too.

    My story

I'm Sara. I had my first migraine at eight, and for three decades I lived with 10 or 12 a month. I tried everything: every treatment, every specialist. Triptans eased the attacks, but nothing stopped the migraines from coming back.

Things changed when I discovered how the brain learns pain, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a method that teaches the brain that the body's signals are not a danger. Today one still shows up now and then, very occasionally. It no longer scares me, and my life is one I once thought impossible.

Migraine Off exists so you don't have to walk that path alone: I guide you through applying PRT to your migraine, at your own pace.

What if migraine isn't what you've been told?

Pain science has come a long way in recent decades, but that knowledge has barely reached the consulting room. Today we know that migraine is not a flaw in your head or a genetic sentence: it is a protective response from your brain, which has learned to assess certain signals as threats and respond with pain.

    How we work on it

    1. Understand

How the brain learns pain and why migraine keeps going. Understanding it changes how you relate to every symptom.

    2. Calm

Practices so your brain stops reading your body's signals as danger and your nervous system lowers its guard.

    3. Trust

Breaking the fear–pain cycle and gradually trusting your body again, and getting back to what matters to you.
